Yes! We will have a workshop on Monday, July 6!

THE SOUNDING BOARD

We facilitate a workshop in Nashville every Monday night except for major national holidays. The workshop begins at 6PM and usually goes until 10PM. You are welcome to drop in any Monday (except major national holidays), no reservation is needed.

In the Nashville workshop, we share our songs and help each other grow as songwriters. We also analyze hit songs and make commitments to our songwriting.

We meet at Sharp Objects, 62 Music Square West. How to get there: From I-40, go west on Demonbreun to the Roundabout. On the other side of the Roundabout, make a left turn down Music Square West (the ASCAP building will be on your left). Sharp Objects is on the left in the third block and there is a sign out front. Turn left into the driveway just past Sharp Objects and park in the SESAC lot. Enter Sharp Objects through the front door. We'll be waiting for you!

Please feel free to call us at 615-596-3482 for more information and if you want further help with directions.

Here's how to prepare and what to expect:

Lyrics only and unfinished songs are welcome. Let us help you finish those songs you're stuck on. Do this before you make your final demo to make sure your song is ready!

Songs can be presented on cassette or CD, or performed live. Bring your guitar, a keyboard is provided.

We have very limited access to copying, so please bring at least 20 (twenty!) copies of your lyrics.

Learn from every song:

  • How to express your lyrical ideas clearly in your own unique style
  • How to compose strong melodies that deliver your emotional message
  • How to best demo your song
  • Whatever information on the craft or business of songwriting your song inspires in the group, i.e., contacts, pitching opportunities.
  • Meet collaborators, share ideas and resources, challenge yourself to write a song a week for the workshop.

Cost:

One workshop drop-in: $10

Audit (participate fully in the discussion, but do not show a song): $5
