We will lead the group in a collaboration on a new song, using the 12 Step process in our book “12 Steps to Building Better Songs.”  We’ll talk about what makes a collaboration flow freely and then launch into writing a song.  Starting from a title (chosen from a hundred or so generated by the group), we’ll identify the dramatic moment of the song, define the characters, outline the plot, choose the structure, free associate images and phrases….we may even finish a song.  Three of the songs written in groups like these have been recorded. 

If we finish a song, it is a requirement that you agree in advance to have it published by our company, Pea Pod Music.  We will send the contract as soon as you are registered to attend.  If the song is not finished, you agree in advance that everyone has a right to go forth and finish the song in whatever way they want to.  These understandings are necessary for the song to have a life beyond the workshop.
